Lenovo IdeaPad A1 Tablet

There are a lot of new tablets coming out which claim to be the next iPad killer sporting a dual-core processor, 8 or 10-inch display and then a price tag of around $300-400 which just isn’t affordable for everyone. But now Lenovo has come out with a new Android powered 7-inch tablet called IdeaPad A1.

It is running Android 2.3 and the best news is that there are a lot of apps to use from day one. The 7-inch A1 will feature a 1024×600 IPS touchscreen display, a single-core 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor, 3MP rear and VGA front cameras, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, GPS and accelerometer and microSD expansion option. The resolution might be a little problematic with some apps but most should work perfectly fine and with a $199 price tag which is half the price of an 8 or 10-inch display, one can’t complain.

The Offline GPS capability and Offline maps gives users an amazing facility while travelling and don’t want to pay the ridiculous data or roaming charges. Its unfair that a tablet should only have online maps, Lenovo has recognized this and added this feature to make life easier. More vendors should definitely look into this and start offering this service.

One note worthy thing is that this tablet does not ship with Honeycomb but don’t despair, An upgrade to Ice Cream Sandiwch is expected soon and Google will make the code available to all its partners.
